Backbenchers - The Journey

It all started with a random conversation between two guys walking to grab a cup of tea. Frustrated with the education system, they set out on a path to think about modernizing education and building AI-assisted solutions... A plan was laid out perfectly, only to go into the archives and never come back for the next three years.

The idea surfaced multiple times in various little talks, surveys were conducted to assess the impact on students, yet even after so many half-baked prototypes, it was never finished.

The problem? We were overengineering... Yes, you heard that right. We tried to build something that works for all use cases - big system design diagrams, scalability ideas, etc. only to never build anything actually useful. The idea was perfected, but it was never executed properly.

It was a random Sunday when I decided this had to end, and here we are with our app, along with my Notion notes that were used by the Backbenchers squad to study for exams. That's how Backbenchers was born.

In the end, all you need to do is start... big or small, it doesn't matter. It's only by brute force that you can actually derive the optimal solution.
